Outstanding Nutrition Educator Award

Teachers work diligently throughout the school year to educate Californian children and many find ways to include nutrition lessons in the classroom. The second annual Eat Smart 2 Be Smart Outstanding Nutrition Educator Awards is designed to honor and reward individuals and teams of educators who go above and beyond the call of duty to bring nutrition to life for their students.

We understand that entering an award or contest is just one more thing a teacher may be asked to do on any given day, week or year. However, we think part of the prize comes from the process, so here are our top four reasons why it’s worth the time and effort to apply for awards/honors/recognitions/contests (like the Outstanding Nutrition Educator Award).

  • Sometimes entries and nominations are listed publicly or reviewed by influential experts in your field. Applying and being part of the process is a great way to raise the visibility of your school and your individual efforts.

  • Many submissions can be repurposed into blog posts or you can post on your school’s blog or use as newsletter articles or communications to parents.

  • Submissions, whether successful or not, are a great way of celebrating your students or coworkers achievements, creativity and successes. Consider copying your principal, curriculum director, wellness committee, board of education or other notable on your submission so others know of your good work.

  • Successful submissions can mean cash, like the Outstanding Nutrition Educator Award, $500 awaits two stellar teachers.

We hope these four reasons will convince you to enter the Eat Smart 2 Be Smart’s Outstanding Nutrition Educator Award open to all school districts in California. Submit entries by February 28, 2017 and we just might feature your school as a winner!
